Education supplier expands presence across the pond by acquiring US partner

Education PC giant RM has acquired a US education supplier to expand its presence across the pond.

RM purchased interactive classroom provider Computrac for $8m (£5.04m), which will be integrated with RM Educational Software, the Group’s US subsidiary. RM’s current international managing director will relocate from Boston to Atlanta to oversee the integration and run the combined businesses.

Terry Sweeney, chief executive of RM, said: “The UK adopted interactive whole class teaching technology ahead of the US, and there is significant market potential in the US, both for our software and for the integrated solutions Computrac specialises in.

“This acquisition is a major step forward in our international expansion, bringing critical mass to our US presence.”

Based in Georgia, Computrac already sells RM teaching software, as well as interactive whiteboards, interactive pads, student voting devices and projectors.

Kevin Talentino, chief executive of Computrac, said: “We’ve found a great home with RM – I am confident, that working together, we can provide great products and services that really make a difference in the classroom and grow the Computrac business in the process.”
