Harrier dumped as TGV rolls out TCP/IP offering

TGV, the TCP/IP software company acquired in January by Cisco, has ditched UK distributor The Harrier Group so it can go direct to resellers. In the wake of this move, it has launched three new products and is looking to expand its base of UK Vars to take them to market. TGV's president and CEO Craig Conway said he expects the company to be totally integrated into Cisco over the next year.

The new products include MultiNet Information Server and MultiNet Enterprise Server, which allow the building of TCP/IP-based corporate intranets. The server software products will be available on OpenVMS, reflecting TGV's background as an independent TCP/IP supplier to the Digital market, as well as Solaris, Windows 95 and Windows NT. The other new product is the Cheetah Web Server, integrated into the MultiNet Information Server. Conway says TGV, and therefore Cisco, now has a technology lead over rivals in the server software and TCP/IP markets.
