Sana seeks distributors for 2007 UK onslaught

US-based vendor is poised to sign distribution agreements with two unnamed UK firms later this month

Bullish US security software vendor Sana is gearing up to sign its first distributors as it launches its official assault on the UK market in 2007.

The firm, which has been operating since 2000, has chosen an indirect route to market in the UK and is keen to establish a channel quickly. It is due to sign two, as yet unnamed, UK distributors later this month.

Sana recently launched its Primary Response Air Cover software, a product that provides broad threat protection of online identity and sensitive data from wireless exploits such as sniffing, hijacking and malware including viruses, worms and Trojans. Sana has claimed that the offering can give resellers a competitive edge over market rivals.

Speaking to CRN, Tim Eades, senior vice-president of sales at Sana, said: “The holy grail for many vendors has been to remove malicious code and we are the first vendor that can do that. Our technology can detect malicious code and remove it without waiting for a scan, and we believe we have a lead of three to five years over any other vendor in the market.”

Eades said the firm has also signed a partnership deal with a large UK ISP to gain further brand recognition.

“We are looking to go very broad with our channel and we will be offering bundles with PC manufacturers and wireless router vendors as well in the near future,” he added.

“By April we expect our products will be in about 20-23 per cent of businesses and homes in the US, and we are looking to attack the UK market in a similar way.”

Bob Tarzey, service director at Quocirca, said: “The market for comprehensive end-point security is growing fast. The ‘clientless’ solution is good for wireless and mobile devices which Sana looks to have covered with the release of Air Cover.”

However, Tarzey added that Sana will come up against stiff competition in the end-point security space.
