Uncertainty surrounds Adventi support

PwC declines to elaborate on future of VAR's IT support services

Rivals rumour that Adventi will shut down customer support next week

The Adventi Group's admistrators are remaining tight lipped over claims made by rival firms that the company’s IT support services will cease next week.

Adventi, which owns Apple Premium Reseller Scotsys, called in PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) last week to oversee its administration, resulting in 22 of its 44 staff being made redundant.

Since then, several channel firms claim to have been contacted by Adventi customers concerned that the beleaguered IT consultancy plans to pull the plug on their IT support contracts.

John Cardno, managing director at Adventi rival CS Technet, said a customer he spoke to had been informed by the firm that its IT support would end next week.

He added: “A lot of customers are concerned, especially those that have paid up front for their IT support.”

Paul Leonard, managing director of consultancy firm IT Service Desk, said his company had received calls from over 30 Adventi clients struggling to find out what the state of play is.

He added: “Apple in the US have also been in touch because they have received enquiries from customers about what is happening to machines that are with Scotsys for repair.”

A channel source, who asked to remain anonymous, said: “I heard the staff that have been retained are back office and not technical, which would leave Adventi customers without IT support cover.”

Joint admistrator Bruce Cartwright said Adventi is “at present, continuing as usual”, but declined to comment on what the future holds for customers with support contracts in place with the firm.
