Watt takes on an Ideal role

President of European and Middle East operations named at Bell Microproducts

Following months of speculation, Graeme Watt has taken on the role of president of European and Middle East operations at distributor Bell Microproducts.

Watt, who resigned from his post as president of Tech Data's European operations in October, last week took control of Ideal Hardware in the UK and Bell's European divisions. He replaces Ian French who left the post of president Bell Microproducts Europe last month.

Watt will report to Don Bell, chief executive of Bell Microproducts.

Watt told CRN: "I'm looking forward to this opportunity and believe in the direction Don is taking the company. I have a mandate from him to expand the business throughout Europe."

Nitin Joshi, partner at PKF, said: "Watt has a good understanding of numbers and has experience in marketing. Bell has more to do in the EMEA region, and Watt gives it credibility."

There has been much management reshuffling at distributors recently, including Greg Spierkel's promotion at Ingram Micro last month and Julian Klein leaving Computer 2000 in February.
