VAR event wraps up Bell virtualisation drive

Distribution giant plans virtualisation push through partner event next month

Bell Micro's event is aimed at partners interested in virtualisation

Distribution giant Bell Micro is holding a partner event next month aimed at resellers looking to incorporate virtualisation products into their portfolios.

The Business Matters LIVE event, which takes place on 18 March, forms the final part of a quarter-long virtualisation awareness campaign the distributor has been running since the start of the year.

The firm’s virtualisation push will be followed in Q2 with a focus on cloud computing.
Scott Murphy, HP and Symantec divisional leader at Bell Micro, said the “vendor agnostic” event will be geared towards helping its partners to “innovate” their product offerings.

He added: “The event is for those who have heard of virtualisation but may not be sure how to integrate it into their own portfolios. This is our way of helping them to sell more products.”

Harvey Smith, regional sales director of UK and Ireland channels at Hitachi Data Systems (HDS), welcomed the initiative , saying resellers would be able to provide clients with a “more consultative approach”.

He added: “We fully support initiatives that help partners better understand new technologies because this enables our customers to make more informed decisions.”
Amanda Giddins, EMEA channel director at Bell Micro vendor partner Brocade, said: “The education of the channel on virtualisation is key to ensuring that the right technology is implemented to meet end-user requirements.”
