Data law increases business for DES

Recruit drive kick started by tough new laws on data loss

The government is considering tougher laws on data loss

Data Encryption Systems (DES) has kicked off a reseller recruitment drive as the government considers tough new laws on data loss.

The granular encryption vendor primarily sells direct in the UK, but has briefed distributor Sigma Software Distribution to boost its channel presence.

The government is considering making it an offence for data controllers to lose personal information.
David Tomlinson, managing director at DES, said resellers are increasingly demanding granular encryption technology to help customers cover their backs.

“We have just started working more actively with Sigma to go out to the resell channel. The problems people need to solve have suddenly pushed us to the forefront,” he said.

Clive Larkin, head of sales at Sigma, said: “In light of the need to employ encryption across a range of different business cases, we are embracing this golden opportunity for resellers to sell products such as DESlock+ to their existing customer base.”
