Ingram signs with Logitech
Distie secures OEM black-label deal with firm
Broadline distributor Ingram Micro has added yet another string to its system builder bow, by signing an OEM black-label deal with Logitech.
Ingram will supply Logitech's black-label line of products, including microphones, speakers, webcams, mice and keyboards, in bundles of 10 or more.
The line will be handled by Ingram's components division, which also runs its Build-Your-Own-Notebook scheme.
Adam Chapman, business manager for mobile peripheral products at Ingram, told CRN: "This is ideal for system builders that are either building their own machines or doing system integration. Because they are black-label the cost is kept right down."
Chapman said system builders have been hit hard because they have had to pay for individual retail products.
"It is nice for us to be able to offer a three-pronged channel strategy around the brand: the OEM for system builders; our retail package for general channel partners; and our business product line," Chapman said.
Martin Breffit, director of white-box builder a-sure technologies, said the move will bring prices down. But he added: "More dealers are outsourcing the assembly of notebooks to focus on their front-office business."
