D-Link to restart IT projects with first finance programme

Vendor dips toe into funding waters for channel projects

Davies: We saw a lot of projects stalling last year

D-Link has rolled out its first ever finance programme to the channel and its customers, with a view to speeding up project funding and delivery.

Chris Davies, general manager at D-LinkUK and Ireland, said the new flexible procurement solution was a first for the vendor and would be available to cover purchases from its range of business products, services and solutions.

“It is basically because we saw a lot of projects stalling last year. Clearly funding was being held back and government agencies, for example, were making sure that money was being spent properly.”

The offering will cover D-Link’s IP surveillance, storage, managed wireless, switching and network security products but Davies stressed that it will also be available for solution-based projects.

“This should help get back some of those projects,” he said.

The funding is available to customers via resellers and will help them spread the cost over the lifetime of an ICT deployment.

According to a statement released by D-Link, a school of 500 pupils could make three annual payments, with the first payment not due until May. This can bring down the cost of IP surveillance installs, for example, to a few pounds per pupil per year.

Andrew Mulholland, marketing manager at D-Link, said the vendor saw cost-effective networking as important. Funding could be spread over three, four or five years. Interest-free terms are also available.

“Now we are helping our customers overcome financial barriers in the market by enabling them to purchase the equipment they need now, with the flexibility to finance their investment over a period of time that suits them,” Mulholland said.
