Hewlett Packard reshuffle creates one-stop shop
Hewlett Packard has combined its Enterprise Computing Systems Organisation and Commercial Computing Organisation into a single unit.
Hewlett-Packard (HP) has combined its Enterprise Computing Systems Organisation (ECSO) and Commercial Computing Organisation (CCO) into a single unit. Phil Lawlor will remain managing director of HP UK, and Dave Cullinane will take control of all channel sales.
John Young, partner business manager, said the move is about presenting a single face to customers and should not greatly affect VARs.
"The last thing we want is a 'one size fits all' programme for partners," he said. Although the Partner Connect schemes will be placed under one umbrella, resellers will retain their specialisations.
Jane Ayers, marketing manager at HP reseller OCSL, said: "I think that it's a neater solution for the customer. How it affects the channel will depend on how it is implemented."
The direct consultancy and services business that accounted for about half of ECSO's turnover will now span the entire business.
"Our services arm is a strong growth business for us," said Young.
