Organiser is kicked into net

Starfish Software, a company launched by ex-Borland chief Philippe Kahn, has announced a personal organiser version of its Sidekick software line, designed for electronic scheduling across the internet.

The product uses email as its transport and allows scheduling of meetings between trading partners, broadening traditional organiser functions to inter-enterprise communications on a global scale. The concept is based on Kahn's own research which revealed that more than half of business scheduling is done with individuals outside their organisation. This version is priced at u69.99 and will be distributed by Gem Distribution, Ingram Micro, Merisel and Metrologie. Major resellers include Software Warehouse and Watford Electronics along with a wide range of retailers including PC World, Byte, Micro Anvika, Silica, Virgin, Toys R Us and HMV.

Starfish Sidekick Internet will be marketed through Starfish Software UK. Promotions, training days and POS units are yet to be finalised but are expected to include special events organised through distribution.
