BAT appoints sole provider

British American Tobacco (BAT) has dropped Atos Origin and signed up Computacenter as its single service provider for desktop delivery.

Prior to this, BAT had used both Atos and Computacenter.

In a statement to CRN, BAT said: “Following a review of IT service delivery across its three UK-based operations, BAT has decided to consolidate its UK desktop service arrangements into a single commercial agreement with a single service provider, to be managed by BAT’s Global Services organisation.

“After a rigorous supplier evaluation, the decision has been taken to appoint Computacenter as this single supplier.”

Scott Haddow, director for Computacenter Scotland, said: “By working with a single partner, BAT will be able to ensure standard processes and technologies are deployed across the company, which will enable both efficiency and financial gains.”

Atos Origin told CRN that it “does not comment on any work undertaken, or on contracts lost or won by other companies”.
