Steljes VARs to target emergency planning

Distributor developing a toolkit to help resellers in this niche area

Steljes is encouraging its Smart accredited interactive whiteboard (IWB) VARs to target the emergency planning sector and is developing a toolkit to help them sell into this niche area.

Research commissioned by Steljes and carried out by independent research group SalesNet has revealed that although IWBs are the most used technology in command rooms, 60 per cent of the UK’s emergency planning departments still do not have one.

Emergency planning is about the preparation for major emergencies and incidents that can happen unexpectedly and anywhere. It is carried out by all the major agencies including emergency services, local authorities, NHS Trusts, government departments and voluntary agencies.

Malcolm Stewart, public sector manager at Steljes, said: “This research presents the channel with an opportunity to approach emergency planning departments and demonstrate the benefits of IWBs. The survey also reveals that most would like to be trained in how to use them, creating another revenue opportunity.”

Gregg Ringer, public sector marketing manager at Steljes, told CRN: “The toolkit, which will be available free of charge to our resellers from May, is designed to arm VARs with all the tools and knowledge they need to sell Smart IWBs into the emergency planning market.”

Colin Messenger, senior consultant at analyst Decision Tree Consulting, said: “Targeting niche areas like this is the way forward for growing IWB sales outside the traditional education space. IWBs are still complicated to sell so anything that makes it easier for a reseller will be of benefit.”
