The latest version of Oracle's flagship database platform, called Oracle 9i, is to make its European debut next month at the UK Oracle User Group conference.
The vendor originally unveiled 9i at its Openworld conference in October amid rumours that the product's launch would be delayed by at least five months.
Larry Ellison, Oracle's chief executive, claimed then that the product should become generally available in the first half of 2001.
Oracle 9i consists of the Oracle 9i Database and Oracle 9i Application Server. Its patented Cache Fusion architecture, the result of more than six years of development, ensures "virtually limitless applications, scaling and reliability", according to the company.
Cache Fusion is the foundation for Oracle 9i's Real Application Clusters, which Oracle claimed make Oracle 9i the "first database to offer linear scalability beyond four nodes".
Ronan Miles, chairman of the UK Oracle User Group, said: "I am delighted that Oracle has chosen the UK's largest gathering of the Oracle user community to conduct its first European demonstration of Oracle 9i."
Visitors to the event, to be held at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham, will be "extremely keen to see it in action", Miles added.
"Oracle 9i represents a technology breakthrough in the software industry," claimed Stephen Millard, director of product marketing, Oracle UK. "The combination of the Oracle 9i Database and Oracle 9i Application Server eliminates traditional barriers to performance and reliability for all ebusiness applications and websites."
