Westcon launches Noxs to VARs

Distributors hold reseller and vendor event

Westcon Group has staged a Noxs launch event to officially unveil the recently combined Noxs and Westcon business to its joint reseller base.

The distributors first linked arms in February, when the UK division of Westcon Group signed a definitive agreement to acquire Noxs. Noxs will now be known as Noxs – a Westcon company.

During the launch event, the 60-strong group consisting of resellers and vendors met in Portsmouth and sailed across the Solent in five racing yachts to the Isle of Wight, where a series of vendor workshops was held. Each reseller was given a 15-minute ‘speed dating’-style meeting with six vendors of their choice.

Vendors taking part included Blue Coat, AEP Networks, Check Point, Fortinet, F5 Networks, Nokia and Internet Security Systems (ISS).

Noxs also unveiled its new SecurityPoint channel programme to VARs at the event, which gives them access to independent research from analyst firm Current Analysis, along with a range of tools for lead generation and sales purposes.

Kay Eggleston, managing director of Noxs, said: “Normally the research from Current Analysis costs between £150,000 and £300,000, but VARs signing up to the SecurityPoint scheme get it free of charge and will have access to research on various vendors.”

Eggleston hailed the event as a success. “We needed to do something special to market the launch of the combined business,” she said. “The feedback was that it was worthwhile in terms of networking and sharing information among fellow professionals about the state of the market.”

Matt Damon, channel business development manager at ISS said: “There is great excitement around the opportunities that the new Westcon Group will bring, namely bringing security, convergence and mobility solutions together.”
