BeCrypt equipped to expand its UK channel

Software vendor aims to extend its flagship products beyond defence and into new areas

Encryption software vendor BeCrypt is looking to expand its UK channel and is on the verge of appointing its first distributor.

The firm, which works directly with a handful of channel partners in the UK, including Centerprise, Civica, Trustmarque, Computacenter and SCC, is looking to broaden the reach of its flagship products – DISK Protect and PDA Protect.

Peter Jaco, chief executive of BeCrypt, told CRN: “All of our business is done through partners, but we still have a lot to do and we are looking to expand the company in Europe. That means expanding our partner network globally as well.”

Greg Hardie, channel manager at BeCrypt, said: “We have worked with a small amount of partners in the UK for some time, but they tend to be more focused around defence. We are keen to expand into other areas, such as the public sector and NHS.”

Hardie also claimed the firm is close to signing its first UK distributor.“Our first distributor is likely to be a smaller, more specialised company, but we are also talking to some of the bigger distributors in the UK,” he said.

Jason Bax, sales manager for defence and central government at Centerprise, said: “When working with the Ministry of Defence it always insists that the hard drive of a laptop is en-crypted before it arrives. In the past we have had to effectively install two hard drives, but BeCrypt’s software allows for a hard drive to be fully encrypted and saves money for the customer at the same time.

“The good thing with BeCrypt’s products is that they provide full disk encryption, as opposed to partial encryption, which is offered by some of its rivals,” he said.
