Cad arm future NICT in the bud

Things are looking grim for Networking Imaging UK's Cad resellerdivision

Cad dealer Network Imaging Cad Technologies (NICT) is expected to be wound up on Friday, threatening the future of one of top 10 Cad resellers in the UK.

NICT is the Cad reseller arm of Network Imaging UK, which is also the holding firm for Network Imaging Solutions and Network Imaging Products.

Network Imaging UK reorganised its three companies after it took over KGB Micros in January 1994, forming them from Hunsbury Computer Services, Art Systems and KGB.

NICT's winding up hearing will be held in Leeds on Friday.

Network Imaging also acquired Autocim last year (PC Dealer, 22 February 1995) but sources said it has since had difficulty continuing sufficient sales. One source said the company could not maintain the level of business of KGB and Autocim, despite its Autodesk Systems Centre accreditation, the top tier offered by the software company.

All parties linked to NICT refused to discuss the winding up order. David Morgan, MD of Network Imaging UK, representatives at Autocad distributor Datech and Jeff Drust, MD of Autodesk UK, were all unavailable for comment.

Network Imaging UK, now owned by and known as Orchid, is based in Northampton with offices in Slough and Southampton. Orchid has been an Autocad reseller for 12 years.

Orchid also establishes Web sites through its Net division for firms which do not have the skills or do not wish to undertake Web projects themselves.

In addition to Autocad sales, Orchid develops and markets Image Xchange software for the capture, management and retrieval of documents to organisations across the UK.
