UK techies ready to up sticks
The IT Job Board research finds 81 per cent of IT professionals would leave the UK for the right post
More than four out of five UK IT professionals would happily relocate abroad if the right position arose, new research has indicated.
In light of the findings, research author The IT Job Board has urged UK employers to provide the right environment for their IT staff.
About 81 per cent of techies questioned said they would leave the UK for the right post, while nearly two thirds (62.5 per cent) admitted to searching for IT jobs both nationally and internationally.
However, 71 per cent said they would also relocate to a different UK city for work.
And in spite of the credit crunch, more than a third of those polled believed the UK would continue to see the biggest growth in demand for IT professionals.
Alex Farrell, managing director of The IT Job Board, said: "It is encouraging to see UK techies willing to expand their horizons and ready to look for overseas work.
"It is also good to see that IT professionals believe the UK will have the biggest demand for IT jobs, and that large numbers would relocate to other national cities for employment. I firmly believe that UK employers need to continue providing the right environment for staff, particularly during this difficult economic period."
