Frenchman Berruyer to take reins at Sage
Accountancy software vendor announces replacement for outgoing chief executive Paul Walker
Guy Berruyer will take over at Sage in October
Sage Group has picked a successor to its long-standing chief executive Paul Walker in the form of company insider Guy Berruyer.
French national Berruyer will take the top spot at the FTSE 100 accountancy software giant on 1 October. He currently heads up Sage’s mainland European and Asian operations and has been with the company since 1997.
Walker, who will remain with the firm until 1 December, said he was confident the right man had been picked to fill his shoes.
“Guy has made an outstanding contribution to Sage and I am very pleased that the board has chosen him to lead the Group and to build on our success,” he said.
“On a personal note, I am immensely proud of the achievements of Sage over the years. I have had a fantastic time with the company and I would like to thank our customers, our partners, my colleagues and our people for their support over the past 26 years.”
Anthony Hobson, chairman of The Sage Group plc, said: “[Guy] has a strong track record of profit growth, both organically and through the successful acquisition and integration of companies.”
