Tierra agent gets Cross Atlantic push
Utilities republisher Cross Atlantic Software has joined up with Tierra Communications to provide an efficient tool to disseminate information to intranet and remote users. Tierra has added push technology to its Highlights 2 Web page monitoring software so corporates can send selected information to users as it is published. Highlights 2 monitors Web pages for changes in content, which it downloads at off-peak times, doing away with the need for time-consuming surfing. The corporate version of the software agent will be launched in the UK later this month by Cross Atlantic, which specialises in republishing US utilities in Europe. The single user version costs #40. It is available through distributors Gem and Ingram Micro, retail outlets Dixons, Game and Electronics Boutique, and off-the-page from Software Warehouse and Watford Electronics. A similar price per user is expected for the corporate version of Highlights 2, but with volume discounts. It will be sold though resellers and Cross Atlantic?s direct sales force. Tierra president Bob Allum said Highlights 2 Corporate differed from other push technologies, such as Pointcast, as it is less computer-intensive and it can download content direct from the Web sites listed rather than gathering the information and then republishing it.
