VIP improves logistical prowess
Distributor invests £350,000 in warehouse management system
VIP's new WMS manages every process from stock integrity to despatch documentation
VIP Computer Centre (VIP) claims its reseller partners will benefit from its £350,000 investment in a new warehouse management system (WMS).
The components distributor said the new system will help its customers in terms of improved competitive pricing, advanced order status information and documentation for every package shipped.
The WMS SQL databases manage every process from stock integrity, receiving and put away to pick routines and despatch documentation.
VIP has also announced plans to develop a customer interface via the distributor’s website by 2009. This will enable partners to track their orders from placement to delivery.
Rob Buchan, logistics manager at VIP, said: “WMS is a valuable tool for VIP, providing visibility for tracking orders and presenting managers with a tool to monitor staff performance on tasks in all areas.
“Ultimately, WMS drives efficiency and allows for more robust processes to be implemented.”
