Marathon Technologies wants to double VAR network
Software vendor targets resellers following the launch of its first formal partner programme
High-availability software vendor Marathon Technologies is aiming to more than double its UK VAR network following the launch of its first formal partner programme.
The Infinity programme features a range of joint marketing and training resources, with lead-generation resources and a partner portal set to debut in April.
US-based Marathon currently has nine UK partners, including infrastructure resellers Repton and Apex Computers.
But Nick Turnbull, EMEA sales director at Marathon, said he would continue recruiting until the vendor has at least 20 partners.
“This will give us the right level of geographical and vertical focus,” he said. “We’re looking for partners that pride themselves on selling cutting-edge technology and can act as a trusted adviser to customers.
“The appeal for infrastructure VARs is that they can sell our technology to any customer using applications such as Exchange or SQL, or to protect specific vertical applications, for instance in the finance, manufacturing or healthcare sectors.”
Despite admitting that Microsoft enjoys the lion’s share of the availability market through its clustering solutions, Turnbull said Marathon offered the channel many clear benefits.
“Against any other availability solution we offer a higher level of availability and a reduced total cost of ownership,” he claimed.
Robin Porter, business development manager at Repton, said: “The biggest difficulty in selling Marathon’s technology is that it hasn’t had a great presence in the UK or marketing dollars to push it.
“The more VARs pushing the marketing message, the better. Marathon allows us to offer the next level of high availability for Windows applications beyond clustering.”
