Phoenix rises from Comtek Network Systems

Comtek Network Systems UK emerges after the administration

A phoenix has emerged from the ashes of Comtek Network Systems after the firm went into administration last month.

Reading-based Comtek Network Systems was a repairs and supplies firm covering vendors such as Cisco, 3Com, Avaya, Hewlett-Packard, Juniper Networksand Nortel.

The company went into administration on 26 October and the Reading office of administrator BDO Stoy Hayward negotiated a going concern sale for an undisclosed sum. CRN understands the new firm is trading as Comtek Network Systems UK.

The business and assets of Comtek Network Systems was sold to Comtek Network Systems UK, and more than 30 jobs in Reading and Deeside were saved.

Martha Thompson, joint administrator and business restructuring partner at BDO Stoy Hayward, told CRN: “Being able to negotiate a going concern sale of a business is in the best interest of all the firm’s creditors. We were very pleased to sell the business.”

Scott Dobson, managing director of distributor Vcomm, said: “It looks like a phoenix, which is not always the best thing to do, but maybe it [Comtek’s management] had valid reasons to put the firm in administration, before buying the assets back.”

No-one from Comtek Network Systems UK was available for comment at the time of going to press.
