Quick Logitek sale looks unlikely
Distributor criticised by vendor partners
Logitek, the troubled distributor that went into administration last week, has been criticised by its vendor partners.
Insolvency specialist PKF was appointed administrator of the company, which is continuing to trade while receivers attempt to find a buyer.
Peter Graham, president, Europe, Middle East and Africa, at connectivity vendor Perle Systems, which was a Logitek partner, said: "The administrator is trying to sell the company as a going concern but I do not think they have a chance in the current climate.
"There is no space for broadline distribution. They say: 'Get big, get niche or get out', and Logitek did not get big or niche enough."
Graham reassured resellers that the vendor remains committed to reseller partners that bought through Logitek.
"We are forward looking and actively ensuring that the business needs of our reseller partners are met by Open Computing and Sphinx CST, our other distribution partners," he said. "We will honour every outstanding agreement and transfer the business."
Networking vendor D-Link was a Logitek partner until April when it terminated its distribution agreement. "We ended our distribution agreement because we didn't think they were proactive enough and were merely order taking," said Dion Luyk, general manager at D-Link Europe.
