Isis wins fight to carry Maximizer

Distributor International Sales Information Systems (Isis) has taken legal action against Maximizer Technologies to retain UK rights to the developer's software.

A bizarre sequence of events led to the court case. Isis sales manager Paul Pitman said Isis negotiated 'a very good deal' with Modatech, the original developer of the Maximizer sales and contact management package.

Modatech went bust and was acquired by Maximizer Technologies, which tried to end the Isis contract.

'Maximizer wanted to re-negotiate,' Pitman said. 'I have never had to fight so hard just to buy and sell someone's product.' Maximizer settled out of court with Isis last month and is now recruiting more resellers for the software.

Dartford-based Isis still has exclusive distribution rights to Maximizer in continental Europe, but JI also carries the product in the UK. Pitman hopes Maximizer and Isis will renew their contract when it expires in just over 12 months' time.

Pitman is offering resellers a competitive upgrade price for customers that use other contact management and personal information management applications.
