Lenovo guns for SME space

Chinese PC manufacturer has unveiled a raft of laptops, software and services aimed at the smaller business user

Lenovo has taken the wraps off a new SME bundle which includes its latest ThinkPad notebook series, software and a range of services.

The Chinese vendor has launched three new notebooks – the SL300, SL400 and SL500 – which include built-in broadband connectivity, multi-media capabilities, software which includes data recovery facilities and simplifying internet connections and an optional service package that features online data backup and on-site warranty repair.

Peter Hortensius, senior vice president of the notebook business unit at Lenovo, said: β€œThe ThinkPad name is synonymous with leadership in computing for the business user. Now we are bringing the same quality that ThinkPad is known for to users in the small business space.”

According to research by analyst IDC, the SME market will count for 31 per cent of the total notebook PC market worldwide by 2009, and will grow to 76.6 million users in 2011.
