GFI Software snaps up HoundDog
Security vendor claims newly acquired technology will appeal to partners hunting for low-cost remote monitoring solution
Security vendor GFI Software has added remote monitoring and management to its armoury by acquiring HoundDog Technology.
HoundDog boasts a client base of 1,700 IT support firms and managed service providers, 600 of which are based in the UK.
GFI has 25,000 partners globally and chief executive Walter Scott said HoundDog’s offering would appeal to small start-up consultancies looking for a low-cost remote monitoring solution.
“We now have the best monitoring and reporting product in terms of ease of use,” he said. “Kaseya has a significantly broader offering, but with that comes increased complexity.”
Scott added that GFI’s stature would allow it to invest “significantly more resource” into the HoundDog product set than previously.
Jon Bennett, sales director at GFI Gold partner mLode IT Solutions, said: “GFI is a technically competent company and I can see this product complementing its portfolio.”
