Tplc rumours resurface

Announcement expected this week regarding future of Sun Channel Development Partner

Speculation has been reignited regarding the future of Sun Channel Development Partner tplc, with an announcement expected this week.

Tplc, the distribution arm of Fujitsu Services' Multivendor Computing division, was the subject of speculation last year over a potential sale (CRN, 23 September).

There were several interested parties, including corporate reseller SCC and distributor GE Access (CRN, 27 September 2000).

However, in January parent company Fujitsu Services said it did not intend to sell the company but in fact planned to strengthen its links with tplc.

Last week speculation about another U-turn arose. One source said: "Contrary to certain rumours there is definitely more than one firm interested in acquiring tplc. We expect an announcement later this week."

Representatives from Fujitsu Services and GE Access both said they did not comment on speculation. Neither SCC nor tplc were available for comment at the time of going to press.
