Sweden gets Hammer time
Storage distributor opens Swedish office
Storage distributor Hammer has expanded into Sweden to strengthen its European presence.
Hammer’s Swedish office will serve the Nordic region, and the distributor claimed this will open up further opportunities for its partners to expand into the region.
James Ward, managing director of Hammer, said: “The Nordic region is very receptive to new technologies.”
However, Martin Vessey, UK country manager of GE Access Distribution, said Hammer’s expansion into Sweden could threaten distributors that focus only on storage.
“To distributors focused solely on that area, this could be a threat,” he said. “But they need to open up to a wider range of IT anyway.”
The expansion follows a management buy-out at the distributor last year. Five executives bought 80 per cent of the company (CRN, 14 February 2005).
