PC-Ware changes direction

Microsoft LAR ditches hardware to focus on core competencies

PC-Ware has halted its hardware-related activities

Pan-European Microsoft LAR PC-Ware has outlined plans to focus on its core software and datacentre activities across all of the regions in which it operates.

The loss-making firm, which works in 26 countries, wound up its German hardware resale arm about a month ago and has tried to re-house as many of the 160 employees affected by the move as possible in other roles.

Having recently refreshed its top executive line-up, the VAR has now unveiled plans to focus on its most efficient business units.

To this end, Frankfurt-listed PC-Ware has created an ‘internationally directed organisation structure’ for its software and datacentre segments.

Vice president Robert Ebner will oversee sales responsibility of the software business for all PC-Ware subsidiaries, with vice president Peter Jung taking the reins of the datacentre am, which is represented by its Comparex brand.

Public relations manager Janine Stoye told CRN: “We plan to establish both datacentre and software services in all of our existing subsidiary markets.”

In its most recent quarter, PC-Ware swung to a €6.6m (£6.1m) loss on revenue that fell 6.3 per cent year on year to €216.4m.

1,700-strong PC-Ware is one of only five Microsoft LARs for the entire EMEA region.
