Northgate clocks 13 more police forces

Thirteen more Police Forces Join Northgate's Safety Awareness Scheme against dangerous driving

Public sector VAR Northgate Information Services has signed 13 more police forces to its Safety Awareness Scheme against dangerous driving.

Forces including Merseyside, Humberside, Avon and Somerset, Sussex and the Metropolitan Police are among those endorsing the scheme. As a result of the partnership drivers committing offences in these counties will automatically be offered a Safety Awareness Course.

Ian Blackhurst, managing director of Criminal Justice & Public Safety at Northgate Public Services said: “Education is critical to tackling attitudes to speeding and to reducing the volume of offences which endanger public safety. Research has shown that excess or inappropriate speed is a significant factor in one third of all collisions on our roads.

“Safety awareness courses are designed to heighten driver awareness of the dangers of speeding to themselves, their families and on the wider community. We are delighted to be working with a further thirteen forces to open up access to safety awareness courses for eligible drivers,” added Blackhurst.

In addition, Avon and Somerset Constabulary and the Metropolitan Police have also opted for Northgate’s enhanced Safety Awareness System. This enables drivers which commit offences other than speeding, such as running a red light, to also be offered the course.
