Enterprise software vendor Mapics is seeking to recruit more resellers in an effort to expand its UK channel. The Atlanta-based company supplies enterprise applications designed specifically for manufacturing companies.

Mapics currently has 75 partners that deal with customers in more than 70 countries, and is looking to expand its UK customer base on the AS/400, Unix and Windows NT platforms.

The vendor also wants partners to support its Point.Man application on NT and Oracle, and on Thru-Put, its supply chain management and scheduling package.

Point.Man uses a single, unified solution to manage multiple sites, outsourced operations and partners. The software provides what Mapics described as "secure internet access channels for customers, suppliers and employees into real-time data in a single Oracle database".

Thru-Put provides supply chain management for medium-sized vendors, combining features such as resource scheduling and shop floor capacity scheduling.

Nigel Cox, regional director at the company, said: "Mapics is aware that new reseller partners will have to invest a significant amount of their resources in gaining the necessary accreditation to join our UK channel."

He added that Mapics was looking at recruiting new reseller partners that complement each other in their respective regions, to ensure there was no "crossover of business".

"The company is stepping up its activity at every level, to ensure channel partners, both old and new, are supported as they meet the changing needs of customers in the ebusiness age," Cox said.
