Precise embraces channel

New European boss wants transaction performance management vendor to go channel-only in enterprise space

Perfect partners: Precise is tapping up EMC's channel partners after forging alliance with the storage vendor

Transaction performance management (TPM) vendor Precise is switching to a channel-led strategy in the UK and Europe after enlisting a new European head and moving its offering into the cloud.

According to Alf Saggese, new vice president of Europe, all activity in the enterprise space will now be partner-driven, with Precise continuing to handle transactions of less than $100,000 (£63,000). It has also relocated its UK office to London to be closer to its core finance and telecoms customers.

The 250-strong vendor, which span out of Symantec in 2008, recently signed a Select agreement with EMC and Saggese said Precise would lean heavily on the storage giant and its channel.

“We would love to sell millions of dollars of software as Precise but, from a speed-of-customer-acquisition point of view, it is much easier to do once we are aligned with EMC and systems integrators,” he said.

Precise unveiled its Precise 9.0 for cloud solution at VMWorld 2010 and Saggese claimed systems integrators are becoming more receptive to cloud-based TPM offerings. "This is a strategic move for us as we see more and more partners becoming serious about what they can adapt into a cloud methodology," he said.
