GN to recruit UK VARs
Headset manufacturer wants UK resellers
Headset manufacturer GN plans to attract UK resellers with a range of convergence products, following the merger of its two business units.
The vendor has combined its GN Mobile division, which incorporates its Jabra brand of Bluetooth-enabled headsets, and GN Netcom, its traditional office headset division.
Jan McNair, managing director of GN Netcom, told CRN: “The merger of the two divisions has left us in a stronger position in the convergence market.”
McNair added that GN split the divisions three years ago to focus on R&D for its GN Mobile business. However, strong demand for new office products from GN Netcom has led to the merger.
“We now have 200 engineers from the two divisions working together to create converged solutions,” he said. “In September we will announce a new company name and what our portfolio will be called.”
McNair added that GN Netcom plans to recruit VARs that want convergence products to add on to sales.
“We plan to expand our VAR base,” he said. “We are targeting the UK SME market. We need local resellers with a solid customer base.”
McNair added that resellers will be able to make additional margin on GN’s headsets because VARs can easily sell them to existing customers.
Richard Carter, business devel-opment director at GN Netcom distribution partner Rocom, said: “Headsets are a big growth area in both the mobile and office arena. The merger will create cost savings for GN, which will hopefully be passed down to customers.”
