Maverick tempts Christie back to distribution fold

Projector vendor appoints distributor to improve presence in corporate and IT sectors

Monitor manufacturer Christie has appointed Maverick as its UK distributor, marking the first time the vendor has used a distribution network for 25 years.
The partnership was signed to give Christie and its partners better access into the corporate and IT sectors.
Dale Miller, vice president for EMEA at Christie, said: “The reason for this change is that the market has changed and Christie wants a broader reach into the audiovisual channel.
“Christie was attracted to Maverick’s marketing approach, the technical expertise available from its employees and from a relationship perspective the fact that Christie has liaised with Maverick on previous occasions,” he added.
Jon Sidwick, managing director of Maverick, said: “We were looking to add to our portfolio with a vendor that is a strong, high-end brand and Christie seemed an obvious choice. This previously would have been difficult because the vendor is a quality brand in the channel.”
As well as Maverick’s distribution network, Christie will also gain access to Convergent, a technology division launched by Maverick in April.
“A Christie product will be a solution-based sale, it will not be sold as just a projector, but as part of a Maverick complete packaged solution,” added Sidwick.
Christie products will include single-chip digital light processors (DLPs), 3-chip DLPs and LCDs, all of which will be distributed through Maverick and are primarily aimed at the corporate, education and broadcast sectors.
