Computacenter awaits decision

The bench of the West Croydon industrial tribunal is expected to make a ruling on the outcome of the court case involving Computacenter and an ex-employee over unfair dismissal next month.

As exclusively revealed in PC Dealer (11 June), Caroline Olds sued her former employer for unfair dismissal on the grounds of sexual discrimination. The case lasted three days. Both sides have to produce a submission to the bench by 27 June. The chairman indicated that a ruling was likely to be concluded in the middle of July.

Olds said: ?I?ve had about two hours? sleep a night and could not sleep the night before the case. I will be glad when it?s over and I get the judgment I want.?

Philip Williams, Computacenter marketing manager, claimed the reseller offered full support for all its staff, of both sexes, and in return it expected high standards. Williams was confident that the allegations would be disproved.
