F-Secure claims Internet Security 2007 margin will beat rivals
Vendor claims product has improved spyware protection, spam control and web traffic scanning
F-Secure has launched the latest version of its flagship internet security offering and claimed the channel will benefit from greater margins than the security vendor’s rivals.
The vendor said that F-Secure Internet Security 2007 contains improved spyware protection, spam control and web traffic scanning.
Richard Hales, UK country manager for F-Secure, told CRN: “VARs will continue to find that customers like our internet security product. It is reliable, which means low stress for resellers.
“The product has integrated components, so VARs will not have customers calling them with problems about feature integration. Resellers are looking to sell a reliable product.”
Hales added that F-Secure has established a solid track record for responding to end-users’ malware problems, while the vendor also provides users with as many update downloads as they require.
“The new version’s major launch message is DeepGuard, which looks at the behaviour of software and sees if it is acting like a virus,” Hales said.
“The reason resellers are taking such an interest in F-Secure is that rival products do not provide a lot of margin. With F-Secure, resellers make a better living.”
Hales added that F-Secure is also offering protection on smartphones, which will provide a door-opening opportunity for VARs when contacting end-users who are keen to discuss the security threats of smartphones.
Bob Tarzey, service director at analyst Quocirca, said: “F-Secure needs to make sure, for itself and its channel partners, that its offering is a significant advancement of the security features Microsoft is building into its Windows platform.”
Tarzey added that the new release is an opportunity for F-Secure’s channel partners to go back to its customer base to access their security needs and apply more services on top.
