HP unveils storage price rise
Vendor finally hikes prices for its storage and business critical servers
HP yesterday confirmed that the weakening pound has forced it to hoist UK prices for its storage and business critical server products by between 3 and 5 per cent.
The vendor took a wait-and-see approach to storage and business critical servers when it hiked prices for its PCs and industry-standard servers in mid-September (Channelweb, 11 September).
Dave Poskett, director of Solutions Partner Organisation for the UK & Ireland at HP, told CRN: “There has been another devaluation of the pound against the dollar and we had to do something on our other products.”
Poskett confirmed that, as of yesterday, business critical server prices had been increased by 3 per cent and StorageWorks prices by 5 per cent.
The timing of when the changes would hit resellers would depend on the commercial terms distributors have with resellers, Poskett added.
HP announced the move as rival FSC finally succumbed to the weakening pound with its first round of price rises.
