Fresh Egg boosted by MAS deal

Specialist security distributor Fresh Egg has bolstered its vendor portfolio by signing an exclusive agreement to offer WhiteHat's Managed Authentication Service (MAS).

Based on Cryptocard token technology to generate a fixed PIN and single-use passwords, MAS is managed by WhiteHat and eliminates the need to maintain, manage and monitor user passwords.

Jason Hart, founder of WhiteHat, said: “Demand for this service is pretty heavy across all sectors and it allows resellers to provide this type of service without the costs of deploying it. Fresh Egg is a very aggressive distributor and doesn’t have a huge portfolio of products, which is why we decided to partner with it.”

Hart said the order for the service is placed through Fresh Egg and then the service is either provided directly to the end-user, or through the reseller. However, Hart claimed the firm would not rule out appointing further distributors in the future.

Graham Fox, managing director of Fresh Egg told CRN that resellers could qualify for up to 40 per cent margin on the service.

“This provides firms with all the advantages of Cryptocard wrapped around a managed service and offers endpoint security. It is charged on a per person, per month basis and is a good example of how resellers can demonstrate expert knowledge of risk mitigation and maximise the value-add to their customers,” he said.

“Most firms regard endpoint security as something they need for remote users, but there is no reason why this should not be used on a LAN. It is much easier to use one password and key, rather than lots of passwords. We are seeing a lot of success with the service,” he added.
