BTIC to push broadband

Extra 500 networking resellers to bolster high-speed internet sales to SMEs

BT Indirect Channels (BTIC) is recruiting an extra 500 networking resellers to bolster its channel selling broadband to SMEs.

BTIC director Mark Hollister said: "Resellers have an important role in driving demand for broadband among SME businesses. We are particularly looking to sign network integrators in the local area network and wireless area network spaces."

BT has already sold a million broadband connections in the UK and Hollister estimated there are up to five million potential SME customers for the channel to approach with broadband.

"It will enable resellers to offer customers additional consulting and training and provide integration skills, as well as refresh products," Hollister said.

Manny Pinon, sales and marketing director at BT distributor Norwood Adam, said the channel opportunity in broadband was huge.

"BT is extremely focused on broadband and there are also political and economic pressures for its roll-out," he said.

"Resellers can sell the connections to their customers and the products that go on top add real value and make margin."
