Questmark buys 500 trees in green drive
Videconferencing VAR to plant a tree for each system it sells
VAR Questmark is planting a tree for every videoconferencing system it sells in an attempt to highlight the green credentials of the technology.
The VAR has purchased 500 trees from Carbon Managers, which runs the Tree 4 Business campaign, and will plant one for each system it sells.
Questmark pointed out that videoconferencing can eliminate the environmental impact of long car journeys and that a 200-mile trip resulting in the emission of over 80 kilograms of CO2. It added that a single tree can absorb a tonne of CO2 during its lifetime.
Mark Salter of Questmark, said: “Tree planting and videoconferencing are complementary. Both offer valuable environmental benefits as videoconferencing eliminates much business travel thereby reducing an organisation’s carbon footprint.
“Trees 4 Business, on the other hand, recognises that some travel is unavoidable and enables companies to offset a proportion of their carbon emissions.”
In addition to the Tree 4 Business campaign, Questmark is also working to the BS 8555 Environmental Management Systems standard, which involves ways of saving energy and recycling more.
