Blue Solutions unveils its latest service vision

Distributor looks to bridge gap between vendors and VARs

Software distributor Blue Solutions launched a TV service last week to bridge the communications gap between the firm’s vendors and VARs.

Matthew Stokes, general manager at Blue Solutions, said: “We distribute software from more than 120 different vendors. One of the problems that manufacturers face is recognising their customer base, their requirements, gaining access to them, and offering them the support they often need. Blue TV goes some way to alleviate this problem.

“Using state-of-the-art digital broadcast equipment and TV-experienced producers, Blue TV will produce a wide variety of videos, in partnership with various manufacturers, to support and assist software resellers.”

Blue TV will also show training video clips, news on products and other vendor announcements.

“Blue TV has been heavily supported by the major vendors, including Microsoft, Bullguard, Linspire and Symantec,” Stokes said. “It’s an ongoing project so we will continue to add new video clips.”

Michala Alexander, head of anti-piracy at Microsoft UK, said: “Blue TV gave me the opportunity to show examples of counterfeit products and some of the measures VARs can take to identify them. It allows us to reach a great many more businesses than we have before.”

Mike Lawrence, managing director of VAR Bentpenny, said: “We have an account with Blue Solutions. When I consider buying new software, I just want to know what it is, how it is used and how much it costs. So if these video clips focus on these things, that will be great. The clips could also be treated as a primer to a vendor’s training session.”
