Logicalis merges its LNS and LCS UK divisions

Reseller consolidates its UK operations

VAR Logicalis has consolidated its UK operations under one umbrella to create a single point of contact for end-users.

Logicalis Network Solutions (LNS) and Logicalis Computing Solutions (LCS) will now operate as a single entity, with Tom Kelly, previously employed as managing director of LNS, appointed as managing director of the new set-up.

Steve Ellis, former managing director of LCS, will assume the role of senior vice-president of international development, to build the firm’s presence in mainland Europe.

Kelly told CRN: “The changes reflect our vision of the developing marketplace. Solutions are becoming increasingly more complex and the end-user community want a whole range of services.

“The key for end-users is to ensure their IT is aligned with their business goals. They are also looking to cut costs and a good way to do this is to reduce their number of suppliers.”

Kelly added that Logicalis’ vendors have been pleased with its vision to provide a wider offering under single management.

“We are trying to provide a unified future for customers, providing services in data, communications and unified communications,” he said.

Kelly added that in the next six months Logicalis’ staff figure will increase by 10 to 15 per cent.

Matt Franklin, managing director of rival VAR Prime Business Solutions, said: “Logicalis’ move is in line with current dynamics in the market, but other competitors have been quicker to integrate their businesses together. We did it some time ago.

“This move has to be managed well, as any change can also unsettle customers and the culture within an organisation.”
