Webroot tempts channel with free training

SaaS security vendor offers one-day technical training sessions on the house

Moyse: Despite the tough economic climate, we will continue to invest in our partners

Cloud security vendor Webroot has launched a free technical training software-as-a-service (SaaS) programme for partners.

The one-day training programme provides new and existing partners with a run-down of the benefits of SaaS and technical training on Webroot Web and Email Security SaaS and Webroot Email Encryption Service.

Partners can also benefit from a system that monitors and generates leads. The SaaS-specific calculation tool demonstrates cost savings and provides sales and marketing materials to drive revenues.

Ian Moyse, channel director EMEA at Webroot, said: “Recent industry research indicates that 85 per cent of malware is now disseminated via the web. Yet, in today’s economic climate, the IT professional is being ever mindful of budget, and this is where SaaS makes great sense, as it proves to be more cost effective and ultimately provides an easily managed secure environment.

Pete Sherwood, director of reseller Infosec Technologies, said: “The addition of free technical training demonstrates [Webroot's] investment in creating success for their partners. This provides us with an opportunity to grow our revenue month after month, and we see this as imperative at this financially-difficult time.”

Webroot claims to have experienced an 80 per cent increase in channel partners who want to sell the vendor’s SaaS security solutions in the UK.

Moyse concluded: “Despite the tough economic climate, we will continue to invest in our partners and ensure that as the security SaaS market grows, they are best placed to capitalise on this exciting opportunity.”
