Action woos Fujitsu?s Mills

David Mills has left Fujitsu after 20 years at the company to join Action Computer Supplies, the mail-order IT firm for business users.

Mills will join the Action board from 1 September and will take on the role of chief executive from 1 October.

He will work within a four-man management team led by Henry Lewis, chairman and founder of the company.

Lewis said: ?Mills has been running a company with a #1.4 billion turnover. We wanted someone able to address the issues of running a company of this size.?

He said Mills has the experience of both acquisitions and Europe to continue Action Computer?s growth.

Action has a projected turnover of #170 million for the year ending in August. Lewis has often stated his ambition of pushing Action to a #500 million turnover company, and conceded that this would not be quickly achievable through organic growth.

He said Action was looking to acquire a company with a large customer base and a similar sales profile rather than a value-added company.

As for Action?s ambitions in Europe, Lewis said he wanted to reach the target of #500 million in the UK, which would give the company a model with which to enter the European market. Action already has a sister company in Madrid which has a turnover of #5 million.
