Troubled RCMS consults receivers

Consultancy firm RCMS Computing Services called in the receivers last Friday to rescue its business, but 40 of the company's staff were laid off last week.

The firm was one of the UK's fastest growing privately held consultancies.

Last year it bought document management firm NBI for #250,000. (PC Dealer, 26 April).

Hitesh Mehta, who at one time ran Merisel in the UK, was a director of the company.

Last year RCMS alliance director Peter Cordery said the NBI buyout was part of a plan to grow the company by 40 per cent through acquisition.

It had wanted a turnover of #25 million by next year.

RCMS' phone line was 'temporarily unavailable' when we called its office last Monday as the receiver attempted to sort out the company's problems.

RCMS Computing Services, like London-based Text Systems, is a distributor of Quintec product PC Docs.

A representative for Quintec said that so far the company had not made any plans to change its channel strategy in any way.
