Freedom set to stir CoCo

Security package to encourage councils to be up to speed on requirements

The government wants to encourage councils to be up to date on security compliance

VAR Freedom has launched a security package for local councils dragging their feet on Code of Connection (CoCo) compliance.

Government data shows that just 18 of the UK’s 410 councils are up to speed on requirements to help them comply with the £33m Government Connect programme. The deadline is March 2009.

Freedom’s CoCo Security Kit includes VPN firewall, hosted integrity testing and remote management.

Mark Wainright, corporate account manager at Freedom, said: “This is just the first stage. Other government organisations must put some sort of CoCo in place over the coming months.”
