Midwich focuses eyes on visualiser market

Distributors looking for resellers to launch visualiser programme for US vendor Lumens

A shining light: Midwich has exclusivity in the UK for Lumens' range of visualisers.

Midwich is looking for 20 to 30 resellers to focus on Lumens' visualisers as it gears up to launch a UK reseller programme for the US vendor.

The distributor has sole UK exclusivity for Lumens' range of visualisers.

Darren Lewitt, divisional director at Midwich, said: 'We've been selling Lumens products since October, but are now looking to ramp things up. We have defined a strategy of what we want to do with the products, which involves launching a dedicated Lumens UK web site and end-user lead generation for our resellers.'

Lewitt claimed visualisers are a good area for the distributor and its resellers to focus on.

'As visualisers take off, margin opportunities for VARs could reach the same levels as interactive whiteboards. Education is definitely the core market for the technology at the moment, but we are also looking at talking to police forces about using them,' said Lewitt.

Midwich is in the process of drawing up an accreditation programme and is looking for resellers to sign up. 'Visualisers are an ideal product to sell for both IT and audiovisual VARs. We already have six VARs selling the products, including three or four large resellers, so would like another 20 to 25.'

Ian Myhill, business manager of rival distributor Maverick's Visualiser Pro division, said: 'We are really excited about how the UK education market is reacting to this kind of technology. Visualisers are now a much more feasible option, well within the reach of school budgets. As specialists in this area, we can only encourage resellers to adopt these technologies as they become part of every day classroom activity, installed in schools all over the UK.'
