Financial software giant strengthens presence in German market

Software vendor Sage has acquired German business management software vendor Bäurer GmbH for £16m, as it moves to strengthen its German footprint.

Bäurer develop a suite of business management software for mid-market businesses, such as for the manufacturing vertical. For its year ended 31 December 2005, the vendor generated a turnover of £16m.

Paul Walker, chief executive of Sage, said: "Acquiring Bäurer strengthens our market position in Germany by providing advanced and industry-specific solutions for mid-market customers.

"Sage's customer service and marketing expertise will enable us to sell more software and services to Bäurer 's customer base," he said.

Sage claimed Bäurer currently has over 2,000 end-users in the mid market and added that the acquisition is expected to close within four weeks.
