Sphinx CST banks on growth with Briercliffe

Mike Briercliffe has returned to specialist software distributor Sphinx CST as business development director after two years as a consultant.

Briercliffe worked for CST from 1991 to 1995, in the end as marketing director. He was responsible for the launch of CST?s IBM channel marketing programme, which became the company?s biggest source of revenue.

This week Briercliffe said: ?I like turning opportunities into real business. The future for Sphinx CST is growing from #50 million to #100 million and beyond. To do that we have to develop relationships with companies like IBM and Oracle. I feel that is a strength of mine.?

As part of his role, Briercliffe is expected to continue to expand the company?s growth. For the past 18 months he has been working as an independent consultant specialising in the channel. He has worked at all levels from users to manufacturers over a period of 16 years, always with a channel focus. Prior to his first time at Sphinx, Briercliffe ran Kernel Group, a Unix technology systems house which he set up in 1985.

Briercliffe is chairman of the networking industry?s lobby group Interforum, which aims to increase the take-up of networking technology. He has been involved with the organisation since 1988.
